5 Ways to Gain Blessings in Rabi'ul-Awwal

Rabi’ul-Awwal is the month in which our Beloved Prophet S.A.W. was born. It is a special month that we should all pay attention to and an excellent time to start implementing forms of good habits in our lives.

Here, we have listed 5 ways that you can be consistent during the month of Rabi’ul-Awwal to gain blessings from Allah S.W.T!

1. Increase your salutations upon the Prophet S.A.W.

‘Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who believe! Send blessings on him, and salute him with all respect’. [The Noble Qur’an, 33:56]

Rabi’ul-Awwal is the best time for us to start the habit of sending selawat consistently upon the Prophet S.A.W.

2. Fast on Sunnah days

Fasting is one of the best ways for us to show our gratitude to Allah S.W.T. for His countless favours, as well as an act of worship that is beloved to Allah S.W.T.

Could you just imagine the magnitude of blessings that come with fasting, not only on Mondays and Thursday, but the The White Days (the three middle days of every single lunar month)?

While we can pray any time of the year, except for the days forbidden to fast, there are days specifically mentioned that carry more reward if someone fasts on that day.

3. Learn more about the Beloved Prophet S.A.W.

As mentioned above, Rabi’ul-Awwal is the month where we celebrate the Messenger S.A.W. of Allah. It’s also the perfect time to start learning more about the life of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.

As the saying goes, ‘you can only truly love someone if you know who they are’.

This Rabi’ul-Awwal, let’s pick up a copy of the Sirah and learn all about our Beloved Prophet S.A.W. - his life, his mannerisms and his beautiful character.

4. Following the Sunnah

We’ve mentioned a few of the sunnahs of the Prophet S.A.W. that you can strive to emulate and start implementing as a habit. Making a conscious effort to follow the Sunnah of the Messenger S.A.W. is an intrinsic part of being Muslim.

’Therefore, whoever is reluctant to follow my Sunnah is not from me’. [Bukhari & Muslim]

Some examples are:

  • Wake up at night more often for night prayers

  • Read the Quran with the translation

  • Seek forgiveness daily

5. Give Charity

This Rabi’ul-Awwal, give to the causes most beloved by our beloved, Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. By donating to charity, you are following in the footsteps of the best creation of Allah S.W.T. At the same time, you are earning reward from Allah S.W.T. and easing the suffering of struggling communities around the world.

When we intend to implement these ways to keep consistent in the path of our Prophet S.A.W, we pray that Allah S.W.T. makes us from the Prophet’s people and enables us to revive his Sunnah.
