Throwback: Ramadhan Charity Ride

The countdown to Ramadhan is closing in, and here at Global Ehsan Relief Singapore we are excited to be gearing up for our Ehsan Ramadhan 2023 projects!

One of our most-anticipated annual events is making a comeback - and it’s bigger and better than ever. This year, we’re launching our Mega Ramadhan Charity Ride, to reach out to even more families in need across the island.

Before that, let’s take a look back at what went down during our Ramadhan Charity Ride 2022 - which took place at Masjid Al-Amin.

Together with our partners and volunteers - 24 biker groups and volunteers from NTU-NIE PERBAYU's Cahaya Kirana, we distributed 500 food hampers to the most needy families islandwide.

During the distribution, our teams personally met and interacted with our beneficiaries, getting to know their stories and their struggles.

One such beneficiary that we met was Mr Nasir and his family of 7.

When we visited, we found out Nasir had quit his job in security to assist his heavily pregnant wife with caring for their young children. His wife had a particularly difficult pregnancy after suffering a recent miscarriage, thus the couple were being more careful. They were barely getting by with only their savings and additional help from the Social Services Office (SSO).

Two of their older children, aged 9 and 15, were staying with their grandmother as their flat was too cramped to have the whole family living together. This also enabled the older children to look after their grandmother who had not been in the best of health.

Upon receiving the food aid hamper, the family expressed their heartfelt gratitude and made dua that Allah S.W.T. bless and accept our kind deeds.

While some of our beneficiaries come from big families like Mr Nasir’s, there are many who are living all on their own as well.

For Mdm Zainab, 61, our visit last year had been the first moment she heard about Global Ehsan Relief.

She had suffered a stroke just before we visited, but thankfully had recovered from it.

"I still feel exhausted easily when I'm stressed or tired. However I still have to push myself to be financially independent and work as a cleaner.”

“I'm very thankful for the food hamper during this Ramadhan,” Mdm Zainab expressed.

The annual charity ride is a chance to help people like Mr Nasir and Mdm Zainab by sharing our blessings with them. We thank you for all the support you've given us, and we hope to receive much greater support from you this year.

This year, help us reach our target of 1,000 beneficiaries islandwide for our Mega Ramadhan Charity Ride, and make this Ramadhan a #monthofblessings for even more of our fellow Singaporeans in need. Donate now!
